KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah has stated that the unfortunate incident of the killing of Irshad Ranjhani has shaken the write of the state and dented the confidence of people in the government’s ability to protect and safeguard their lives.

The Chief Minister, in his letter to Inspector General Police Dr Kaleem Imam, says he was writing this letter in utter dismay with regard to the unfortunate incident that took place on February 06.

Irshad Ranjhani was shot dead by accused Abdul Rahim Shah on main National High near Bhains Colony, Malir.

CM Sindh writes to IGP, “Apparently Abdul Rahim acted like judge, jury and the executioner at the scene and violently flaunted the rule of the gun at the crime scene. Also, he did not allow anyone, on the spot, to take the deceased to hospital.”

Murad Ali Shah also says, “Police force exhibited an irresponsible attitude and did not reach the scene in time, which resulted in the victim’s succumbing to his gunshot wounds before being shifted to hospital.”

He went on to say, “The handling of the incident has cast serious doubts on the professionalism and efficiency of the police force.”

The Chief Minister directed IGP to expedite the investigation as per law/rules in vogue, further, responsibility should also be fixed on the delinquent officers/officials who mishandled the entire incident from the beginning.

He sought report from the IGP in this regard within 48 hours.
