ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday convicted former Additional Session judge Khurram Alik Khan and his wife Maheen Zafar in Tayyaba torture case.
The court sentenced the former judge and his five to one year in jail and imposed Rs50,000 fine on each convict.
The decision was announced by justice Amir Farooq.
Juvenile housemaid Tayyaba was tortured by the judge and his wife in December 2016 and after media reports, Supreme Court had taken suo motu notice.
Last month, Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court conducting trial in this matter dismissed an application of the OSD judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan, who alleged that the incident was given a media hype due to the interests of a property tycoon against whom he had passed certain orders.
