‘Year of the Dog’ on Chinese Calendar is being celebrated all over the world and crowds are gearing up for celebrations.
In Vancouver, annual Chinese New Year parade is gearing up for action for its 45th yearly event on Sunday.
Ten thousand spectators are likely to turn up at the event while a total of 3,000 people will be taking part in the festivities. Highlights of the event include lion dances, cultural dance troupes, marching bands and martial arts performances.
The chief parade coordinator, Jun Ing says, “While the parade is rooted in Chinese culture, it also has its own particular multicultural Vancouver flavor.
He further said, “This year we are more likely to have South Asian participation.” The parade starts off at 11am and follows a 1.3 km route and ends two hours later.”
