DUBAI: 2017 proved to be a remarkable year for cricket fanatics all over the world.

However, Pakistan’s rousing win against arch-rival India in the ICC Champions Trophy final was one such milestone that is perceived by hundreds as an unforgettable feat. And it is because of this that the International Cricket Council has declared the victory as “Fans’ Moment of the Year.”

Banking on some early movement with the white ball India chose to bat first but the plan failed.

Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali’s formidable partnership and Muhammad Amir’s brilliant bowling performance paved the way for the team in green to claim and bring the trophy home after a hiatus of many years, where Pakistan almost always lost to the Indians in ICC tournaments.

The opening pair made a staggering record of 128 after being succeeded by Mohammad Hafeez who sought to take Pakistan up to 338/4. Pakistani team, although faced severe doubts over the possibility of being able to crush India’s powerful batting lineup, basked in glory when India was brought down to defeat after the unexpected dismissal of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan.
