US President Donald Trump on Saturday praised the “idea” of ending aid to Pakistan and diverting the money meant for Islamabad to an infrastructure fund to build roads and bridges at home.

The suggestion to redirect money came from Republication Senator Rand Paul who called for US  to cut aid to Pakistan through a video posted on Twitter on January 4.

“I’m introducing a bill to end aid to Pakistan in the coming days. My bill will take the money that would have gone to Pakistan and put it in an infrastructure fund to build roads and bridges here at home,” the Senator said in a video posted on Twitter.

“Good Idea, Rand,!” Trump added before retweeting the  statement from the Senator.

Trump’s latest tweet came a day after US announced it is suspending at least $900 million in security aid to Pakistan.

The relations between the two countries nosedived after Trump accused Pakistan of giving US nothing but “lies and deceit”
