COLUMBUS, Ohio: Bringing smiles on the faces of the weak and old, a program named 'Adopt a Senior' in the US state Ohio allows people to adopt senior citizens for the upcoming holiday season.
As a result, some 1300 seniors have been taken in for adoption to make them feel loved and cared for this Christmas.
Cheering the low-income seniors with their desired gifts, every senior was adopted within a span of 24 hours.
As remuneration, a large group of people acting as Secret Santas received numerous Thank You cards by the adopted seniors.
Started in 2012, the program plans to expand with each passing year as it continues to extend love, affection and care to an imminent age group of the society.
"Seniors can be overlooked. If we make it easy for people to recognize the need and then plug in through a program like Adopt a Senior, I think it raises awareness and that opportunity to share the kindness that all of us have inside of us," shared Matthew Goldstein, founder of Besa (NGO that collaborates with the said program to send gifts free).
