Surangika saves Sri Lanka from total collapse against Pakistan

Surangika saves Sri Lanka from total collapse against Pakistan

LEICESTER: A 76-run sixth wicket partnership between Manodara Dilani Surangika and Eshani Kaushalya (28) lifted Sri Lanka to 221 for seven after they were reeling at 98 for five against Pakistan here at the Davis Road ground on Saturday.

Both teams are the only teams to go winless so far in the tournament as they are now playing their last league match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017.

Batting first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka made a disastrous start losing both their openers for a mere 18 runs after medium-pacer Diana Baig struck twice.

However, it was Surangika who rescued the team with her brilliant innings of 84 runs in 111 balls, laced with nine boundaries.

Diana bagged three wickets for 41 from her quota of 10 overs.
