NEW DELHI: The Twitter account of Bollywood's singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya was suspended after he posted offensive tweets against JNU student Shehla Rashid. The singer claims the move is aimed at curbing 'nationalist voices like his'.
Bhattacharya is known for his controversial tweets. On May 22, Abhijeet Bhattacharya reportedly abused some women Twitter users, including JNU student activist Shehla Rashid, after which a complaint was filed.
“Account Suspended: This account has been suspended…,” stated the message from Twitter on his handle.
After the singer's account was suspended by Twitter, Shehla Rashid thanked everyone for their support. She wrote: "Sincere thanks to everyone for the support. Abhijeet had to delete his tweet. His Twitter account has also been suspended."

His Twitter account has also been suspended. :)
The singer said, “My tweets were not at all offensive. The entire nation today stands with me. Those offended are the anti-national elements. They can abuse the Indian Army, they can speak against our Prime Minister and get away, but mere replying to their tweets can get your accounts suspended.”
