SHERGARH, Okara: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday announced Rs500 million for providing gas to 100 villages in Okara district.

Addressing local elders here, he said that I had brought this money to solve problems of local bodies.

“I will talk to Saad Rafique for setting up a railway station in the area, “the prime minister told the gathering.

On the occasion, he rejected calls for his resignation and said that he would not step down merely on someone’s wishes.

Speaking about development projects, he said that work on the Lahore-Multan Motorway had started. Pakistan is now progressing fast, he added.

We are engaged in carrying out development of the country. We are not sitting idle. It is our duty to serve all people living in Pakistan, the prime minister said. However, opponents are busy in pulling our legs, he maintained. They will protest as it is written in their fate while we will continue to serve you.

Speaking about loadshedding, the prime minister termed the previous government responsible for ruining affairs of the power sector.

He said that a coal-run power plant in Sahiwal was near completion while another project of 1300MW was under way at Karachi's Port Qasim.
