SAUDI ARABIA: A Saudi groom divorced his wife just two hours after their marriage after she used the image messaging and multimedia mobile application to share pictures of their wedding ceremony.

Some marriages never last long but this one was particularly brief. Just two hours after marrying a woman, a Saudi groom divorced his wife after she used Snapchat to share pictures from their wedding ceremony with her female friends. After learning that images of their nuptial ceremony had been shared on Snapchat by his wife, the groom immediately filed for divorce.

According to Saudi media, both had agreed prior to tying the knot that pictures of the marriage ceremony would not be shared on social media applications such as Snapchat, Instagram or Twitter.

"There was a prenuptial agreement between my sister and her fiancé that she would not use social-media applications such as Snapchat, Instagram or Twitter to post or send her pictures," said the bride's brother while speaking to a Saudi daily. "It was included in the marriage contract and became binding. Regretfully, my sister did not honour the pledge and used Snapchat to share pictures from the wedding ceremony with her female friends, resulting in the shocking decision by the groom to cancel their marriage and call for divorce," he added.

The divorced cause differences between the two's families, with the groom's side claiming that he was justified in filing for divorce. The bride's family however claimed that the prenuptial agreement was unfair itself.
