Prince Edward, Duchess Sophie branded least fussy Royal couple

Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie are praised for being an un problematic royal couple.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, who are who are core team members of King Charles’ slimmed down monarchy, are as genuine as they appear in public.

Former BBC royal correspondent, Jennie Bond, tells Mirror: “Edward and Sophie are a really genuine couple, what you see is pretty much what you get.

“They do their jobs with as little fuss and flummery as possible - Edward was seen just the other day walking to the Palace rather than being in a posh car, and Sophie will sometimes drive herself to an engagement and is more than happy to manage her hair, make-up and clothes herself.

“Well, of course they should, I hear you say! And yes, that’s what the rest of us have to do every day, but it hasn’t always been the ‘royal’ way. You could say that they’ve long been doing what Prince William has recently spoken about - being royal with a small ‘r’.

“Like many a tourist (though of course they are not just ‘any tourists’), they jumped on a tram in Lisbon on their Portugal trip. But experiencing public transport wouldn’t have been the kind of culture shock for them as it must have been for the late Queen,” she noted.
