X tests cross-posting to Instagram, Snapchat stories–Users aren't happy
On June 2, X also launched a new feature called 'react with video' for IOS users
Elon Musk’s X is set to introduce another feature as the platform tests new ways to share posts from X to Instagram and Snapchat stories.
The announcement comes after X head of product Nikita Bier took to the official account and confirmed the launch of “react with video” feature.
The feature allows the users to record video reactions directly within the app and turn every post into a potential content creation studio.
This time too Nikita Bier posted the announcement of X, stating, “We are testing two new ways to share posts from X to Instagram & Snapchat Stories.”
There are two different versions depending on how you share it:
- Share the videos from the timeline
- From the fullscreen view
According to Bier, one can “share a post with a reply—for those moments when you want to show off an incredible ratio.”
Shared videos now automatically include watermarks. The style of the watermark adapts based on whether the content was shared from the timeline or the fullscreen view.
This is not X's original idea. Bier thanked the people involved in this project, citing, "Credit to @_trevorholliday for working on this side project — plus design from @nicoduc & @alexworkmode.”
During the testing phase, the feature will be available to certain users. Once it has been done, the early preview will be on IOS. Initially "react with video" feature is also available to IOS users who can record quick responses in picture-in-picture or green screen modes.
Users are not happy—Here’s why
The idea of cros-posting to other social platforms drew mixed reactions from the users. Some netizens expressed their excitement for the cross-app reach. “Finally! X dropping direct video and full reply sharing to IG and Snapchat stories is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. No more screenshots, lost context, or fake profiles. This is going to make sharing so much easier,” one wrote.
But most others showed concerns. One user wrote on X, “This turns instagram and snap into x's content farm. native stories on those apps are done.”
Another one commented, “Why f*** around with that when you have thousands of HUMAN accounts getting banned erroneously everyday for "inauthentic behaviours? FIX IT!”
The third one questioned the recent move, “Why are we instagramming X?”
“We need a simple X with basic text format tweets. We don’t need a video platform like TikTok and YouTube," another user opined.
“Your team has a lack of interest towards android. We feel shunned.” an android user complained.
