Meghan Markle to join Courtney Adamo for California Bookshop event
Prince Harry inspires the name behind California’s Godmothers Books
All eyes are on California tonight as Meghan Markle gears up for an intimate literary evening alongside acclaimed writer Courtney Adamo at the charming Godmothers Books in Summerland.
The highly anticipated gathering has already sold out, with the venue confirming that while every ticket has been snapped up, fans can still tune in via a live Substack broadcast.
The bookshop shared the exciting update on Instagram, announcing, “Today’s event is sold out—but you can join us live on Substack!”
Meanwhile, Adamo expressed her own excitement online, writing, “Very excited about this event tonight at @godmothersbooks. Looking forward to seeing some of you there!”
Opened in September 2024, Godmothers Books has quickly become a community hub for literary minds and creative spirits with early support from Oprah Winfrey and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex helping cement its reputation as a cultural gem on the California coast.
Tonight’s event promises thoughtful conversation, storytelling, and a glimpse into Meghan’s ever evolving post-royal life.
The bookshop has a charming royal backstory. It was born out of a light hearted moment when Prince Harry affectionately dubbed the shop’s co-founders, Jennifer Rudolph Walsh and Victoria Jackson, along with their close friend Oprah Winfrey, his “fairy godmothers” during a gathering celebrating the release of his memoir, Spare.
Oprah, ever the creative spark, suggested turning the playful nickname into the shop’s official name and the founders loved it.
The result is a literary haven with a name as heartfelt and story filled as the community it serves.
