Meghan Markle’s new statement on motherhood raises eyebrows: ‘frustrated’
Duchess of Sussex's major claims about parenting Archie, Lilibet come under scrutiny
Meghan Markle seemed to have ruffled some feathers once again after her comments about motherhood ‘frustrated’ many given her ‘great privilege’.
The Duchess of Sussex, who released the last episode for the debut season of Confessions of a Female Founder podcast, got candid about how she feels “incredibly overwhelmed: about being a “working mother”.
Meghan had said that it would often make her go, “Oh my gosh, I just need a break.”
However, many argued that Meghan, who is mum to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, is not a typical working mother given that she has had an “amazing nanny” looking after her children since the past five years.
She was slammed for “overusing” examples of the struggles of motherhood by news.com.au’s royal correspondent Bronte Coy.
“I have a son, but when I hear people from positions of great privilege – where they can afford nannies and a lot of help – go on and on and on about the working mum thing, it’s not the same,” Coy lamented during The Sun's Royal Exclusive Show.
“Yes, it’s time away from your kid – I definitely understand that aspect – but it’s not the same as the working mum idea that a lot of the rest of the world has to deal with.”
Coy also noted that Meghan is often at home which is not a luxury afforded by other mums who manage juggle work with their children’s responsibilities.
The journalist suggested that Meghan’s whining about such problems is becoming quite “grating”.
