King Charles and Prince Andrew’s feud may be much worse than anticipated as the siblings’ row over the Royal Lodge continues.
The relationship between the monarch and the disgraced duke are “very, very, bitter,” according to Kate Mansey, Royal Editor of The Times.
Mansey went on to add that the rift between Charles and Andrew is even worse than estranged siblings Prince William and Prince Harry, who are not even on speaking terms with one another.
“I think we think about Harry and William falling out, but this is very, very bitter now between Andrew and the King,” she explained during her podcast.
“What's so interesting is just how fraught the relations have got between the brothers,” she continued. “Somebody said to me, a friend close to the King, said it can be done tidily or it can be done untidily.”
“Getting rid of Andrew from Royal Lodge can be done with grace and dignity, or it can be forced upon him,” she said of the ongoing row.
Charles had initially wanted Andrew to evict the 30-room mansion Royal Lodge but the granted him a ‘stay of execution’ if he were able to afford the upkeep of the Lodge.
However, Andrew is persistent and doesn’t budge from his place, and is also resorting to childish antics as a form of protest.
“This is sort of fighting talk because Charles is paying a lot of money to have him stay there—his security, his allowance.”
Meanwhile, Palace sources have insisted Prince Andrew "remains the King's brother" and is welcome at family events but will never return to public duty.
