December 25, 2014

KARACHI: Personnel of the Pakistan Rangers Sindh, with the collaboration of the local police, gunned down seven members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the Sohrab Goth and Surjani Town areas.
A spokesman for the Sindh Rangers said during routine patrolling at the Northern Bypass near the Surjani Town area late on Wednesday night, the Rangers spotted suspicious movement and signalled to the suspects to stop. However, they opened fire on the Rangers personnel and tried to flee.
The Rangers returned the fire and as a result of the encounter, three terrorists were killed while one managed to escape in the cover of darkness.
A Rangers soldier and a policeman were injured in the incident. The slain terrorists were identified as Sher Raheem, Nasrullah and Anwer Mehsud. The terrorists were members of the Khan Zaman Mehsud Group of the TTP.
Later on a tip-off about the presence of TTP men in the Janjal Goth area of Sohrab Goth, the Rangers conducted a raid and killed four terrorists in a shootout and recovered weapons, including sub-machine guns, from their possession.
Separately, a raid was conducted by the Rangers in the Mehmoodabad area in which two gangsters were killed. Following a tip-off, the Rangers conducted a raid on the hideout of the Ashok Group in the Chanesar Goth area and killed two outlaws in an exchange of fire.
The gangsters were identified as Nadir Baloch and Wajahat Ali alias Kanrein Machi. The gangsters were wanted by the police in dozens of cases of killings and other heinous crimes.
