15 terrorists killed in NWA

December 4, 2014

MIRANSHAH: Military authorities claimed to have killed 15 more terrorists in “precise” air strikes in the militancy-plagued North Waziristan Agency on Wednesday. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a message fighter jets continued pounding the hideouts of militants in North Waziristan on Wednesday, killing 15 militants.
Munir Khan Afridi adds from Bara: Six more suspected militants were killed and 10 pro-government peace body members sustained injuries in a clash in the Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency, official and tribal sources said.
Sources said the militants affiliated with the outlawed organisation, Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) and Tauheed-ul-Islam (TI), a pro-government peace committee of Zakhakhel, attacked each other’s bunkers with heavy weapons in the Nari Baba area of the Tirah Valley.
The sources said six suspected militants belonging to the LI were killed and 10 volunteers of the TI were wounded in the clash. It was also learnt that the LI and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (Tariq group) were jointly attacking the volunteers of TI and security forces amid the ongoing Operation Khyber-1, which was launched by the government on October 16.
However, the conflicting claims made by the organisations could not be verified independently because the communication system had been disrupted in the area amid the ongoing military action.
Meanwhile, eight bodies of militants who were killed in clashes with security forces in the Akakhel area in Tirah Valley were recovered and handed over to the political administration.Sources said two of the bodies were handed over to relatives.
