Terrorism bid foiled in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: In a joint venture of sensitive intelligence agencies and civil secret force, two terrorists belonging to a banned militant group were arrested with explosive material, maps and firearms during a raid at a hideout in Rawalpindi Monday. The sources said that the terrorists had plan to target mourning possessions at Rawalpindi being taken out on 10th of Muharram (Tuesday) from Imambargah Colonel Maqbool, the sources said.
A joint team of a sensitive intelligence agency and police, upon receiving information about the activities of the terrorists outfit, conducted a raid at a hideout late Monday night and arrested two persons with explosive material and arms and ammunition and shifted both of them to unknown place for further investigation, the sources said. The sources, quoting statement recorded during the preliminary investigation, said that the terrorists were linked with TTP and came to Rawalpindi to target Ashura-e-Muharram procession, adding that the people engaged in investigation of the case said that the terrorists network had been broken timely and the remaining members of the outfit were being hunted down.
