Registered IDPs from North Waziristan now total 751,986

PESHAWAR: The total number of internally displaced persons (IDP) from North Waziristan who have been registered to-date has risen to 751,986. The families that have been registered are 58,663. The number of registered children has reached 323,000.
This information was provided by Syed Mohsin Shah, Commissioner Bannu Division, while briefing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, who was on a visit to Bannu along with his party leaders and KP CM Pervez Khattak on Sunday.
The focal-person for the IDPs said Nadra had so far verified 25,000 families, admitting that cases of duplication in registration have been detected. He informed that 75 percent of the IDPs are residing in Bannu, 10 percent in Lakki Marwat, seven percent in DI Khan and Tank and 10 percent in other areas.
The commissioner Bannu said the distribution points for IDPs have also been increased to nine. He said Rs340.33 million have been distributed among 28,616 families at the rate of Rs12,000 per family. However, he said that cash payment will be stopped from Monday and distribution will now be made through Zong for which 20,000 SIMs have been activated.
