KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Patron-in-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday termed the former military dictator a “coward”.
On micro-blogging social website Twitter, he tweeted terming Musharraf a cowardly person.“I can’t believe this coward ever wore the uniform of our brave and courageous armed forces, disgrace!” Bilawal tweeted.
He also expressed his concern that Musharraf might be doing this ‘drama’ to skip the treason trial and demanded an independent medical board to verify his disease.“All medical excuses must be verified by an independent board of doctors,” the PPP patron-in-chief tweeted.
“Having witnessed the Article 6 trial proceedings, it’s clear that the defence team intends to fight the court, not the case,” Bilawal added.Bilawal also demanded all culprits who had supported Musharraf for his wrong deeds should be brought to justice.
“Why is only Musharraf? It’s not only Musharraf. It’s just first Musharraf then the rest. Everyone should be entitled to a fair trial. No one should be above the law”, he tweeted. On the other hand, Aseefa Bhutto said that she was praying for the recovery of former president Pervez Musharraf. At micro-blogging social website Aseefa Bhutto tweeted, “Hope for Musharraf’s speedy recovery so he can finally enter the court.”
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed termed Pervez Musharraf a coward and said that the former army chief was powerful just because of the army uniform but in actual Musharraf was a timid fellow.
Talking to media persons outside the Parliament House on Thursday, Hafiz Husain Ahmed said while heading towards the Special Court, Pervez Musharraf could not go to the GHQ but he had reached the AFIC.
Hafiz Hussain Ahmed said, “It seems Musharraf made a drama to save himself from court proceedings.” He added as earlier Inspector General FC Balochistan adopted this technique to save himself in the missing persons’ case. And the IGFC Balochistan recovered right after the retirement of the former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed said.Former law minister Dr Babar Awan said that former president Pervez Musharraf had sent incumbent Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to Saudi Arabia and the UK for treatment and now they would reciprocate the gesture.
At micro-blogging social website, Babar Awan tweeted, “PM and CM of this government were sent by Mush to KSA and UK for treatment. Would government send him out on humanitarian grounds?”
Most of the political parties as well as people are not in favour of sending the former president Pervez Musharraf out of the country for treatment and consider his heart attack as a ‘drama’ to avoid the high treason case and escape abroad.
Sindh Senior Minster for Education and senior PPP leader Nisar Ahmad Khuhro said that Musharraf got ill because he was afraid of appearing in the court.Secretary General Awami National Party (ANP), Sindh, Basheer Jan, said that it was up to the court to send Musharraf aboard or not. He did not reply to a question if the government was serious in the Musharraf treason case.
Haleem Adil Sheikh, PML-Q Sindh, said that Nawaz Sharif government was not serious in Musharraf’s trial and was trying to avoid it but also wanted face saving. “They are only deceiving the people,” he added.
A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Dawa Khan Saber said that Musharraf’s illness was a ‘drama’ and the government was also involved in it to avoid the case, adding that the former dictator should be provided treatment in the country as there were many good hospitals in Pakistan too. He, however, said if the court allowed sending Musharraf abroad for treatment, his party would have no objection to it.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) spokesman Zahid Askari also called Musharraf’s heart attack a ‘joint drama’ of former president and the government.JI leader Assadullah Bhutto said that Musharraf’s illness was a conspiracy to pave the way for sending him abroad.
Meanwhile, common people in their opinion said that Musharraf wanted to escape the trial and his illness was a drama.They also said that the government was not serious in trying the former dictator and wanted to avoid it.
