FC checkpost attacked; Levies driver killed in Washuk; man gunned down in Quetta
DERA BUGTI: Six militants, including their commander, were killed during a security forces operation in the Dera Bugti district of Balochistan on Sunday.
A spokesman for the paramilitary force said that unknown gunmen attacked an FC checkpost in Mat area of Sui in Dera Bugti and managed to flee. He said the FC chased the attackers and conducted an operation in Sui town adding that six armed militants, including a Farari (fugitive) commander, were killed during the three-hour-long operation.
The FC personnel also recovered 30kg of explosives in addition to other heavy weaponry from the spot. The killing was preceded by an intense exchange of fire between security forces and the armed militants. FC sources claimed that militants were involved in a series of bomb explosions and blowing up gas pipelines in Dera Bugti, the country’s resource-rich district.
In another incident, unidentified miscreants opened fire at a Levies vehicle, killing the driver and wounding two Levies personnel in Washuk district in Balochistan.Levies Force said their team was on routine patrol Saturday night at tehsil Basima in district Washuk when unidentified armed men ambushed their vehicle, killing the driver on the spot, while two personnel were injured. The wounded personnel were shifted to a local hospital. — Earlier, unknown gunmen shot dead a man at Eastern Bypass in Quetta on Sunday.According to police, Abdul Razzaq was standing near Bakra Mandi when armed assailants opened fire at him and managed to escape from the scene.As a result, he died on the spot.
Police reached the site and shifted the body to civil hospital for legal formalities. Later, the body was handed over to the heirs.The cause of killing could not be ascertained.Police registered a case and started efforts to arrest attackers.
