KARACHI: The Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) gave its assent to joining the government in the Centre.
PML-F chief Pir Pagara Syed Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi gave his approval to being part of the government in the Centre during his meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shahbaz Sharif who called on him here on Saturday.
After the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif, while talking to media persons flanked by Pir Pagara, vowed to end the energy crisis and hours-long power loadshedding in the country. He also pledged to eradicate the extortion mafia in Karachi.
Shahbaz said that previous government had done nothing to overcome the energy crisis in the country.
He said after coming to power, his party would immediately take every possible step to generate electricity, adding that the Thar-coal project would be activated.
Shahbaz said the PML-N government in the Centre would facilitate all provinces to maintain law and order especially, in Karachi and Balochistan.
He said the Centre would coordinate with the Sindh government to restore peace in Karachi which he said is the financial engine of the country.
“The PML-N will help the local authority to end extortion, target killing, kidnapping and terrorism from Karachi and the rest of the province,” he added.
Shahbaz vowed to establish a Lahore-like Metro Bus system in Karachi.
“As we promised to the people of this city, the PML-N will immediately work on this mass transit system and I offer my expertise and experience to build a Metro system in Karachi,” he said.
The PML-N leader said that the polls in Sindh were manipulated and the real mandate of Sindh’s people had been stolen.
Shahbaz said his party did not believe on political victimization but people who were involved in mega corruption would be brought to justice.
He said the alliance with the PML-F would be in favour of the people of Sindh, adding that he invited the PML-F president to Raiwind and

Islamabad to attend Nawaz Sharif’s oath-taking ceremony.
Pir Pagara urged the unification of all factions of the Muslim League. He said all factions of the Pakistan Muslim League should be gathered on a single forum and be united for the betterment of the country.
Pir Pagara said that he had been supporting Nawaz Sharif in the past and vowed to support him in the future as well.
Earlier in the meeting, Shahbaz invited the PML-F to join the federal government. The two leaders also discussed the political situation in the country with particular reference to Sindh province.
While briefly talking to newsmen on arrival at Karachi airport‚ Shahbaz said his party would work for the improvement of the law and order situation and betterment of the people of the Sindh.
He said talks were under way with all allies to form federal government, and the PML-N was willing to cooperate with the Sindh government for resolving provincial problems.
He said we would not only launch a Metro Bus project in the city, but would also introduce a most modern traffic system for the metropolis.
