ISLAMABAD: Nawaz Sharif will undertake whirlwind visit of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and China next month after assuming the office of the prime minister since Pakistan would like to discuss methods with world community to overcome its problems, especially the energy crisis.
Pakistan and China have already decided to convene a meeting of Joint Energy Working Group (EWG) to discuss pressing energy requirements of Pakistan and identify as to how this cooperation can move forward in future. The EWG will have an emergency meeting soon after assumption of charge by the new government in Pakistan. The Foreign Office has received dozens of invitations from world capitals for new prime minister to undertake visit to their respective country at the earliest but Nawaz Sharif will be visiting to the three countries on priority basis.
Diplomatic sources told The News here Friday that Nawaz Sharif has been posted about relevant developments on the international horizon and Pakistan’s inter-state ties. The Foreign Office has requested Nawaz Sharif for submission of formal briefing and it is expected that it would be conducted before his assuming the office and in all probabilities the briefing would be given early next week.
In the meanwhile, the Foreign Office conducted international media briefing exclusively to highlight the achievements of the visit of the Chinese premier concluded a day earlier. It was for the first time that the foreign secretary provided the briefing.
