LAHORE: Caretaker Information Minister Arif Nizami has expressed a great sense of satisfaction and relief over the recent electoral exercise and added that Mian Nawaz Sharif and his team would steer the country out of the present problems.
Addressing a press conference at the Aiwan-e-Iqbal on Friday, the minister said that the caretakers had lived up to their promise of holding fair and free elections in the country.He said that no big incident of violence happened during the elections nor the caretakers suspended the mobile phone services during the electoral exercise which, in the past, would only cause great inconvenience to the people and a huge loss to the cellular companies.
Besides the caretaker government, the minister gave the credit of holding the fair and free election to Pakistan Army, Election Commission of Pakistan and Nadra. He pointed out that Nadra had ensured that no fake voting should take place and if there had been any such complaint, then the ECP should be contacted.
He said that after the elections, the government has entered into the next stage of the transfer of power, which would be done in due time since it was to be held after three weeks of the elections but due to the wait for the complaints about the final result in some constituencies, this process may take a little longer.
Nizami said that the democratic institutions have gained strength due to this electoral exercise and power would be transferred to the new government through smooth transition.He commented that it was the first election in the history of Pakistan in which the people had failed the politics of bullet through the power of the ballot.
He said that the president would call the assembly session before first June and then the formation of the government and the nomination of female representatives will be held on reserved seats.
Arif Nizami said that Nawaz Sharif and his team have a vast experience in the fields of business and economic affairs.The

minister said that the Chinese prime minister was coming on a special two-days visit on Wednesday and the objective of this visit is to promote economic activities in Gwadar. He described this visit as a very significant event for Pakistan. The minister informed that the caretakers also took some vital decisions and during this tenure the inflation index came down to a single digit.
He announced that a fund of Rs 10 million for the families of journalists. He also appealed to all political parties not to make these elections controversial.
On MQM Chief’s threats to journalists and his use of uncivilized language towards media, Arif Nizami maintained that Altaf Hussain has forwarded a clear explanation on both of his statements regarding this issue.
Agency adds: Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would organise a one-day seminar on social media “Creating joint media policy for all government departments” on Monday next.Information Minister Arif Nizami will be the chief guest at the seminar to be held at Information Service Academy, Zero Point.
