Many heavyweights knocked out by rivals

RAWALPINDI: The Saturday’s general elections saw many upsets as several heavyweights in different political parties faced defeat in their strongholds. Former primeMinister and PPP candidate Raja Pervaiz Ashraf was defeated by PML-N’s Raja Javed Ikhlas in NA-51, Rawalpindi, with big margin
Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan washed away Awami National Party’s Ghulam Ahmad Bilour in Peshawar city constituency NA-1.In Multan, PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi lost the seat to PML-N’s Abdul Ghaffar Dogar in NA-148.
Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was defeated by PML-N’s Malik Mumtaz Tamman in NA-61 Chakwal. He and PPP’s Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar are also facing defeat in NA-105, Gujrat, against PML-N’s Chaudhry Mubashar Hussain.Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao’s leader Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao lost to PTI candidate.
NA 53 PTI’s Ghulam Sarwar Khan is defeating former Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and PML-N stalwart Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in his stronghold. However, Ch Nisar won from NA-52, Rawalpindi.
ANP chief Asfandyar Wali, Ch Ahmad Mukhtar, Mian Manzoor Wattoo, Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Jamshed Dasti and Ghulam Mustafa Khar were also shown the door by their rival candidates.Former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani’s sons, Abdul Qadir Gilani and Musa Gilani, were also knocked down by their rivals in Multan.
