Two soldiers, 15 militants killed in Khyber Agency

BARA: Fifteen militants and two security personnel were killed in shelling by warplanes on the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) positions and an encounter between the Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) and security forces in Tirah Valley and Bara Tehsil of Khyber Agency, official and tribal sources said on Sunday.
Sources said the jet fighters bombarded the positions of TTP in Sorkas, Sra Vella and Dwatoy in Kukikhel area in Tirah on Sunday. At least, 10 militants were killed and eight injured in the air strikes. A vehicle and five sanctuaries of the militants were also destroyed in the aerial attack.
Meanwhile, security forces encountered with the LI militants in Nala area during a search operation in various areas of Bara subdivision including Mandikas, Bachi Nehar and Yousaf Talab.As a result of crossfire, five militants and two security personnel were killed while 10 soldiers and six militants were injured.
Security forces were backed by two helicopters, which shelled militants’ positions in Nala. The forces also blew up an empty double cabin pick-up truck left behind by the militants. A car was seized while two suspects were arrested by the forces and shifted to Fort Salop FC camp for interrogation.
