Target killings claim 12 more lives in Karachi

KARACHI: The city witnessed a sharp spike in incidents of target killings with 12 people, including a senior office bearer of the PML-N, a senior doctor, a police inspector, and an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), gunned down in various incidents of firing on Tuesday.
In a late night incident, Mian Arbab, 65, and his son Mian Taimoor, 40, were shot and injured by two armed men who opened fire on their vehicle on Khayaban-e-Jami, in DHA Phase VI. Both the men later died in hospital.
The deceased, Mian Arbab, a resident of Khayaban-e-Ittehad, was the Joint Secretary Sindh of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz).
In another incident, Dr Hassan Alam, 50, was gunned down when unidentified people riding a motorcycle sprayed bullets on him with sophisticated weapons near Saleem Center, opposite Galaxy Apartments in North Karachi’s Sector 11/I while he was travelling in his official vehicle GS-340.
The SHO New Karachi, Nasir Bukhari, along with a police party, rushed to the spot and took the body to the Abbasi unidentified men on a motorcycle fired at him near the Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen Masjid in the Khokrapar police limits, Malir No-3. Police shifted the body to the JPMC for legal formalities. The MLO of JPMC said that the deceased received three bullet wounds on upper parts of his body.
SHO Khokhrapar told The News that the deceased was an activist of the MQM and lived in the same police area. After the incident, all the local markets were closed.
Unknown armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on Shahzed Hussain, 35, near Golimar No-1 in the limits of Rizvia Society police station. He was standing outside his residence. He died on way to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
The MLO of the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said that the deceased had received four bullets on upper parts of his body.
SHO Rizvia Society said that the deceased was killed in a targeted incident.
In a similar incident, 50-year-old Muhammad Jameel was killed when two

armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on him near the Northern Bypass at Noori Goth, Khairabad, while he was standing outside his residence. His relatives took his body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
Javad, 22, was killed when unidentified people on a motorcycle sprayed him with bullets near Ibrahim Goth in the limits of Mauripur police station of Musharraf Colony. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital.
The MLO of Civil Hospital said that the deceased had received at least four bullet wounds on upper torso.
Sher Ahmed Khan, 55, was killed when two armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on him in the limits of SITE-A police station near Pathan Colony, Orangi Town. His relatives, after hearing the gun shots, came out and found his body in a pool of blood. They shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for legal formalities.
Arif Ahmed Rajer, 25, was gunned down by unknown armed men riding a cab near the Al-Mustufa Welfare Hospital in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Block 13-A, while he was going in his car. The armed men after the incident managed to flee from the scene. Later, the police shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. SHO Aziz Bhatti said that deceased was the owner of an estate agency and was living in the F.B.Area. He also said that the deceased was the main accused in the firing incident at a dance party in which seven people, including grandson of Nawab Bugti, were killed. He also said that the deceased was also an organiser of dance parties.
Raheel, 27, his friends Qamar, Slaster, Zer Badshah and Mazhar received bullet wounds when four armed men on two motorcycles fired on them in Manzoor Colony’s Sector E, while they were sitting outside their residence. They were rushed to the JPMC, where during treatment Raheel breathed his last.
Habib Ali, 25, was killed when unidentified people opened fire on him near the Kharadar police kiosk in the Baghdadi police jurisdiction, Lyari. The area people took his body to the Civil Hospital for legal formalities. Later, his family members reached the spot and took his body without postmortem.
Ghulam Anwar, 25, was killed when he was hit by a stray bullet on his skull near the Rubi More in Saeedabad police limits while he was standing with his peanut pushcart.

The SHO said that the deceased was the Medical Superintendent of Sindh Government Hospital, New Karachi.
He also said that Hassan was returning home from his private clinic in Sanober Cottages. The deceased was a resident of North Nazimabad.
