PESHAWAR: Militants made a serious threat to the government against re-starting anti-polio campaign by planting a bomb weighing three kilograms in a health centre in the urban Rashidabad area here on Monday.
An official of the Faqirabad Police Station told The News that the staff of the health centre in Rashidabad raised suspicion about a bag wrapped in a cloth soon after they arrived for duty early Monday morning. The staff called the police after which the bomb disposal unit (BDU) experts were sent to check the bag.
The BDU experts detected and defused the bomb that weighed three kilograms. They also found a piece of paper with a message for the government and senior health department authorities. “The letter carried a message, apparently from the militants, for the government authorities.”
