Court notice to Azam Hoti in Haq Mehar case

Court notice to Azam Hoti in Haq Mehar case
ISLAMABAD: Justice Muhammad Anwar Kasi of the IHC here on Monday issued notices to Muhammad Azam Khan Hoti, father of the chief minister KP Amir Haider Khan Hoti for recovery of Rs110 million in Haq Mehar after his wife filed a suit for recovery. The IHC bench has issued notices to Azam Hoti for January 22, 2013.
Shamim Akhtar Kyani, wife of Azam Hoti, has challenged before the court that her husband at the time of marriage had promised to give her the said amount of money as Haq Mehar that he did not give. She then challenged the matter before the civil court in Islamabad through a civil suit.
The civil suit was withdrawn after Azam Hoti signed an agreement and handed over her a promissory note that he would pay the amount in 180 days. After 180 days, Shamim sent legal notices to Hoti but he did not reply. She then filed a suit.
Legal counsel for Shamim Akhtar said as per law, Azam Khan Hoti within 10 days of receiving court notices is bound to file representation before the court and seek permission to contest the claim. In case he does not file representation, a decree may be issued in favour of Shamim Akhtar Kyani.
