• Six militants among nine killed in Bara blitz

      BARA: Nine people, including six militants, were killed while seven others sustained injuries in shelling by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jetfighters in Zawa area of Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency on Thursday, local sources said.

      The sources said that two jetfighters early in the morning pounded the hideouts of militants associated with Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Darra Adamkhel chapter in Zawa area in which six militants and two of their women relatives were killed while three others sustained injuries. The sources said that two bases and two houses of militants were destroyed in the air strike. A civilian identified as Shabbir was killed while four others including Amal Khan and Saddam were injured when their houses located close to the base of the militants were struck in the air strike. Three houses were partially damaged in the bombardment. Subsequently, helicopters flew over the area and targeted the suspected positions of the militants. Zawa is located close to Matani area of Peshawar where Superintendent of Police (Rural) Khurshid Khan along with four cops was killed by the militants during an attack three days back. Official sources said the security forces believed the attack was carried out from Zawa area.
