ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Monday admitted for regular hearing the review petition filed by real estate tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain challenging the formation of the inquiry commission headed by Dr Shoiab Suddle in the Dr Arsalan case.

A two-member bench of the apex court comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain resumed preliminary hearing into Malik Riaz Hussain’s review petition and admitted it for regular hearing.

Malik Riaz had filed a review petition against the formation of an inquiry commission in the Dr Arsalan case, but the Registrar’s Office had raised objections, which were challenged by Malik Riaz. On Monday, the court rejected the objections of the Registrar Office and admitted the review petition for regular hearing.

Zahid Bukhari, counsel for Malik Riaz Hussain, contended that the SC Registrar’s Office had no right to return the appeal with objections. Endorsing the contentions of Bukhari, the bench rejected the objections saying the review petition would be heard on merit and adjourned the case till Oct 2.
