LAHORE: Defence Minister Ch Ahmed Mukhtar has said a decision of Nato supply restoration will be taken keeping in view greater national interest.
Talking to the media at a reception hosted by senior leader of PPP Punjab and ticket holder from NA-121, Auragnzeb Burki, the minister said Pakistan could never be isolated from the global community.
PPP leaders including Senator Jehangir Badr, Imtiaz Safadar Warraich, Chaudhry Aslam Gill, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Malik Hafeezur Rehman, Raja Mohammed Amir and a large number of party workers attended the reception.
To a question on the stance of Pakistan in the ongoing Chicago conference, the minister said President Asif Ali Zardari would take all decisions keeping in view recommendations of the defence cabinet committee and parliament.
He said that Nato did not represent a country but 48 nations and Pakistan wouldnít indulge in any kind of confrontation with the global community.
He also said stance of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif over the Nato supply issue would not be different from that of the PPP. He also added that Shahbaz Sharif couldnít get votes by distributing laptops.
Senator Jehangir Badr said the remnants of Ziaul Haq couldnít bring about a revolution in the country as the PPP was the only political power that represented the masses. Slamming the Sharif brothers, Badr said if power projects initiated in the era of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto were not targeted by them, the country would have never faced loadshedding. Senator Jehangir Badr said Nawaz Sharif was responsible for the prevailing power crisis in the country.
