ANF recovers drugs worth Rs6.117 billion

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered drugs worth Rs6.117 billion and arrested 20 drug peddlers, including a foreigner, in raids in various parts of the country, the ANF spokesman said.
In 16 operations conducted in different parts of the country, the ANF recovered 3,216.7 kilograms of opium, 237.19 kilograms of heroin, 100.73 kilograms of charas and 600 grams of amphetamine. As many as 4 vehicles were impounded in raids.
The ANF Quetta seized 3,201 kilograms of opium and 224 kilograms of heroin from an uninhabited hut in Pishin. Reportedly, drugs were dumped in the hut due to difficulty in its transportation owing to strict checking by the Frontier Constabulary, Balochistan. The consignment was intended to be transported to Mekran for onward smuggling to a foreign destination.
The ANF Rawalpindi, acting on a tip-off, stopped a Suzuki pickup (BC-1681) near Mullah Mansoor Toll Plaza, GT Road, Attock, and recovered 84 kilograms of charas from its secret cavities. The operation resulted in arrest of Farhad Ahmed, resident of Kohat, and Niaz Muhammad, resident of Peshawar. As per initial information, they were involved in transportation of drugs from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab.
On another information, the ANF Rawalpindi impounded a white Toyota Hiace (LES-1635) at GT Road, Attock. Detailed search of the vehicle resulted in recovery of 11.25 kilograms of charas. Four persons on board, identified as Mujahid, Roohullah and Mehran Khan, all residents of Charsadda, and Rahim Khan, resident of Malakand, were arrested during the operation.
While on routine patrolling, the ANF Rawalpindi team stopped a passenger bus and arrested a female drug peddler, Bakht Naz, resident of Charsadda. Thorough search of the woman led to recovery of 7.2 kilograms of opium. She was accompanied by her two children.
The ANF Rawalpindi conducted an information-based operation at Kono Das area of Gilgit and arrested Sadaqat and Hijab Khan, both residents of Gilgit. The operation resulted in recovery of 2.5 kilograms of charas.
The ANF Rawalpindi conducted a raid at Paradise Grill Hotel, River View Road, Gilgit, and arrested Alamzeb, resident of Gilgit. His search led to the recovery of 1.1 kilograms of charas. The operation also resulted in confiscation of a Honda CD-70 motorcycle as well.
The ANF Karachi conducted an intelligence-led raid near Government Degree College, Korangi No. 4, and arrested Muhammad Khan, resident of Chakra Goth, Karachi, after recovery of 1.03 kilograms of charas from his possession. As per preliminary investigation, the arrested man was involved in drug supply to nearby educational institutions.
On information, the ANF Karachi conducted a raid near Agriculture University of Tandojam and arrested Ghulam Sarwar, resident of Tandojam, Hyderabad, after recovery of 850 grams of charas from him. As per preliminary investigation, he is involved in drug supply to nearby colleges and schools.
The ANF Karachi Airport team intercepted a suspected parcel containing garments and recovered 90 grams of heroin concealed in it. The consignment was booked by Imran Ali, resident of House E-116, Scheme 33, Al Azhar Garden, Karachi, and intended to be received by Heather bin Amara, 3021 State Road, Apartment 516, Clear Water, Florida, USA.
The ANF Karachi Airport team conducted an operation at Jinnah International Airport and apprehended Asad Ali, resident of Kasur, on suspicion of having ingested heroin-filled capsules. As per preliminary investigation, he confessed to having ingested heroin-filled capsules. He intended to fly to Sri Lanka via Dubai by an Emirates Airlines flight (EK-603). While in another operation, the ANF Karachi apprehended Amjad Khan, resident of Karachi, on suspicion of having ingested heroin-filled capsules. He intended to fly for Colombo (Sri Lanka) by a Sri Lankan Airlines flight (UL-184).
On a tip-off, the ANF Peshawar intercepted a consignment at Daewoo Bus Terminal and recovered 2 kilograms of heroin concealed in a suitcase. The consignment was booked by Arif, a resident of Peshawar.
The ANF Lahore conducted an intelligence-based raid in Vehari and arrested Chaudhry Muhammad Khalid, Chaudhry Muhammad Asif, both residents of Vehari, and Gul Malik, resident of Upper Dir. Their search resulted in recovery of 8.5 kilograms of opium. A Honda CG-125 motorcycle was also confiscated during the operation.
The ANF Lahore Airport team, acting on an information, arrested Qaiser Waseem, resident of Toba Tek Singh, at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, after recovery of 8.1 kilograms of heroin concealed in his trolley bag. He was scheduled to fly for Bangkok by a Thai Airlines flight (TG-346).
The ANF Lahore Airport team, acting on a tip-off, arrested Derakhshan Ghlae Seyamack, a British national, at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, after recovery of 3 kilograms of heroin concealed in the trolley bag of the accused. The culprit was scheduled to fly for Dubai by an Emirates Airlines flight (EK-625).
The ANF Lahore Airport team, acting on an information, arrested Ramzan, resident of Khushab, at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, after recovery of 600 grams of amphetamine (ice) concealed in his trolley bag. He was scheduled to fly for Jeddah by a Shaheen Airlines flight (NL-717).
