Rangers arrest 699 ‘criminals’ in two months

Rangers said on Monday that they had arrested 699 criminals including nine terrorists, 95 target killers, 123 extortionists and six kidnappers in the ongoing crackdown under way since September 5.
In a statement, the spokesperson for the paramilitary force said 1,324 weapons including LMGs, SMGs, uni-barrel rocket launchers, rifles, shotguns, pistols, grenades, home-made bombs and bullet proof jackets were seized during the two months.
The paramilitary force became engaged in nine encounters in which 14 terrorists and criminals were killed and for kidnapped people rescued. A Rangers soldier was killed in these encounters.
The Rangers spokesperson said on Sunday night, the paramilitary force conducted raids in Swati Colony and Ali Muhammad Brohi Goth in Landhi, Salman Farsi Society, Liaquatabad, Frontier Morr, Chanesar Goth, Falak Naz Plaza in Malir, North Nazimabad, Sikander Goth and Mominabad.
The paramilitary force also conducted a joint operation with the Anti-Narcotics Force in Khamiso Goth and snap checked vehicles at Khyber Chowk and in Garden, arresting 22 suspects.
South police arrest 1,503
The District South police said they had arrested 1,503 suspects in the two months of the ongoing crackdown against criminals. The spokesperson for the District South police said they had conducted 794 raids and 39 encounters during this period. Two robbers were killed. The arrested people included 652 absconders and 45 proclaimed offenders.
Six terrorists, eight target killers, 58 robbers, 10 kidnappers, 212 street criminals, 179 drug peddlers were arrested. The South police seized 276 weapons, 1,205 bullets, 31 kilograms of hashish, 2.5 kilograms of heroin, 136 bottles of alcoholic beverages, four cars, 22 motorcycles, 79 cell phones and Rs215,000 in cash during the period.
The East Range police said they arrested 37 criminals including a proclaimed offender and two absconders in raids on Monday.
Besides, a robber was killed in

an encounter. The East Range police seized nine pistols, a repeater, 23 rounds, 1,970 grams of hashish, 15 grams of heroin, 12 bottles of alcoholic beverages, Rs1,540 in cash, a mortar gun shell, 90 feet of telephone cable and five cell phones.
The South Range police said they arrested 20 criminals including a proclaimed offender and eight absconders, on Monday and seized five pistols, a revolver, a repeater, 24 rounds, a hand grenade, 130 grams of hashish, and two cell phones.
