ISLAMABAD: PML-N and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) would reach an agreement over seats adjustment in various constituencies of the National Assembly after scrutiny of nomination papers.
JI sources told ‘The News’ that the PML-N leadership had shown flexibility on seat adjustment between the two parties in the upcoming general elections. “The final decision in this regard, however, will be taken on completion of nomination papers on April 07,” a JI leader said.
The JI sources, however, said that chairman of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) has conveyed to the Jamaat leadership that his party would not cooperate with them if they (JI) reach any seat adjustment with PML-N.
JI spokesman Shahid Shamsi when contacted, was hopeful of success of talks between Jamaat and PML-N.
He claimed that the PML-N had agreed to surrender both seats of National Assembly from Islamabad to Jamaat-e-Islami (JI). Ex MNA Mian Muhammad Aslam and Zubair Farooq Khan had filed nomination papers from NA-48 and NA-49 Islamabad on JI tickets
Similarly, Shamsi said the JI would also get support of PML-N for its two candidates including central general secretary Liaquat Baloch and deputy general secretary Dr. Farid Paracha in Lahore.
On the other hand, a PML-N leader who had applied for party ticket from NA-55 claimed that Jamaat would not get any ticket from Lahore or Islamabad.
