      Dacoit killed in crossfire with police

      KASUR: A dacoit was killed during an exchange of fire on Wednesday night near BS Link Canal in Sadr Phoolnagar police area.

      Five unidentified robbers held a picket near BS Link Canal to loot people. Receiving information, Jamber Police Post in charge SI Shoaib Wattoo reached the spot. Seeing the police, the robbers opened an indiscriminate fire that was retaliated. After an exchange of fire for about half an hour, the robbers fled leaving the body of one of their accomplices. The robber, according to police, was killed by the bullet of their own accomplices, was identified as Nazir alias Wadee of village Khara. Police claimed that the robber was wanted by the Kasur police in 35 cases of murder, robbery and vehicle snatching. DPO Kasur constituted a team for the arrest of the robbers.

      PASSENGERS DEPRIVED OF VALUABLES: Robbers deprived passengers of their cash and cellphones and a weapon from security guard of a bus after making them hostage on Multan Road Phoolnagar police limits. Bus ND-755 was on its way from Gujrat to Chistian when it reached near village Chah Dhahbawala, a gang of 15 robbers intercepted the bus and took it to a deserted place by holding the driver and passengers hostage. Later, the robbers deprived the passengers including Nazir, Ghulam Abbas, Sharif and Zaheer, of their cash worth Rs 145,000, a licensed weapon from a security guard, Tanvir Ahmed, of the bus and scores of cellphones.

      MAN KILLED AS GUN GOES OFF: A man was killed while cleaning his pistol at village Mia Kay Morr in Sadr Phoolnagar Police area. Shahid Jabbar was cleaning his pistol while sitting on the roof of his house when the pistol he was cleaning went off, leaving Jabbar dead. Police were looking into the matter.
