Investiture ceremony held at St. Mary’s School
Rawalpindi
An investiture ceremony was held at St. Mary’s Cambridge School, Murree Road, in which newly-elected prefects, head-prefect and head-boy took the oath of office for the year 2011-2012.
The chief guest for the occasion Major General (r) Julian Peter administered the oath and gave away the badges and sashes to the office bearers. The prefects promised to be faithful to the school, principal and teachers, and also vowed to be active and responsible members of the Student Council. They also promised to abide by school rules and work wholeheartedly to maintain good discipline on campus.
The Principal, Roger Francis while speaking on the occasion said that leadership is not in holding positions but in helping others. The office bearers have been nominated to these positions to instill in them a sense of leadership, responsibility and of achievement in recognition of their hard work and discipline. “I encourage the young leaders to uphold the values of the school and the nation while discharging their duties honestly and impartially. Leaders are not born but they are made and for that every child’s talent needs to be explored and chiseled,” he said.
Major General (r) Julian Peter, himself an old boy of the school, said he was proud to be an old St. Marian. He spoke to the students about how St. Mary’s had played an important role in producing great leaders for Pakistan such as General Asif Janjua, General (r) Jahangir Karamat, Javed Burkii, Rashid Minhas (Shaheed, NH), Wasim Sajjad and others to name a few. He challenged the students to learn from those great leaders of Pakistan and become future leaders of their motherland.
