Sindh CM joins NAB probe against illegal appointments of STEVTA

KARACHI: The Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday visited the NAB regional headquarters in Karachi to join an ongoing investigation against officers of the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA).

A NAB statement said the investigation was initiated by the anti graft body over complaints of illegal appointments in STEVTA during 2012. Following investigations Hafizullah Abbassi, Ex-MD STEVTA and Yousaf Baloch were arrested and a reference was filed in the Accountability Court, Karachi, the press release added.

According to NAB, the STEVTA Board later ratified the illegal appointments made by the Ex-MD. The Chief Minister Sindh also gave ex-post facto approval to the ratification of the amendment in STEVTA Recruitment Policy, the statement said. On Wednesday, the Sindh Chief Minister informed the NAB that a sub-committee had recommended the ratification of amendments in the STEVTA Recruitment Policy, the statement added.
