PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain Tuesday renewed his government’s pledge to continue ‘jehad’ against the terrorists till restoration of complete peace in the country.
Iftikhar was speaking at the fourth death anniversary of police official and former Chief Capital City Police Officer Peshawar Malik Saad Shaheed at the Peshawar Press Club. The minister said the militants were the enemies of peace and prosperity and working for a foreign agenda in the region.
He said the government had joined the war against the terrorists for survival of the country. He said they had given matchless sacrifices in the war against terrorism and the restoration of peace in the country. He praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police for its role in the war against terrorism and in saving lives and properties of the people.
The minister said despite limited resources, the police played heroic role and foiled nefarious designs of terrorists to set up sanctuaries in the cities. Recalling bravery and honesty of Malik Saad the information minister said he would live in hearts of the people as he lost his life but did not bow before the terrorists. He said Malik Saad Shaheed was a sincere and committed police officer and earned good reputation. The minister said it was responsibility of every citizen to support the government and armed forces in their fight against the terrorists. He said Saad lost his only son at the hands of terrorists but vowed to continue his role in creating awareness among the masses against the terrorists and their evil designs.
