LAHORE: PML-N Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal has said that the government’s non-seriousness and irresponsibility can be gauged from the fact that the letter sent by President Asif Ali Zardari to the PML-N chief was released for the media whereas he did not receive it.
According to a press statement issued on Sunday, he said that the federal government had broken all records of corruption and it should concentrate more on fighting this menace than spending energies on befriending the PML-N.
Ahsan Iqbal said had the government considered the proposals given by Mian Nawaz Sharif, it would have been able to generate three times more resources than the RGST. He said that the extreme level of corruption had become a cancer for the nation and the headstrong attitude of the government was worsening the situation.
He said the PML-N believed that the RGST would cause inflation, which would ruin the already burdened and impoverished people. He said that was the reason the PML-N had taken a stance against the RGST. The PML-N information secretary said that the proposals forwarded by the PML-N Quaid were simple and people friendly but the government chose to ignore them and was bent upon implementing the RGST.
