Dinner hosted to mark reopening of ‘Dum Pukht’

In its early years of being the capital, Islamabad saw the opening of many restaurants that eventually had to shut down for lack of business. Now the city has grown and the ‘eating out’ culture has become, in a big way, a part of the lifestyle of those who live here as families and other groups from all strata of society make it part of their weekend activity, if not their daily routine.
Restaurants serving a variety of food can be found in all sectors and they are apparently doing well as can be seen by the attendance - from the ones, which provide basic amenities in service to those who do it in style. Whether you are a fan of Asian cuisine; European or any other, you can select whichever your preference is for a particular evening out - depending of-course whether or not your pocket allows it! For those who can, another addition to the list of choices is now an option.
To mark the reopening of their restaurant, ‘Dum Pukht’ serving Pakistani cuisine for those who appreciate fine dining in a place with the right ambience, the General Manager, Marriott Hotel, Harmut Noack, hosted a dinner, which was attended by some ambassadors; other diplomats and a few Pakistani guests. After a short reception period the red rose ‘ribbon’ was cut by the wife of the Turkish ambassador, Emel Huzlan and wife of the Special envoy, UN Secretary General, Tulay Soysal.
An atmosphere conducive to fine dining has been created in this small but cosy restaurant, with soft lighting and a golden brown dÈcor; murals with scenes from Moghul times and a glass wall through which you can watch the chefs preparing your meal! Welcoming his guests the host said the restaurant had been reopened to fill the need for serving Pakistani cuisine to the in house customers and other clients who wanted to enjoy the best of what Pakistan had to offer in a safe and relaxed atmosphere. He also briefly mentioned the flood relief assistance being donated by the hotel

After a memorable meal of Moghul specialties, a surprise came in the form of a birthday cake to wish the special UN envoy, Engin Soysal whose birthday it was - a little birdie had informed the management it was learnt! After the guests had sung ‘happy birthday’ the envoy thanked both of them and the management and said he was very happy to be back in Pakistan because of the warm hospitality he had enjoyed on his previous posting and the manner in which he had been welcomed again. So a very pleasant evening came to an end on a high note of goodwill and camaraderie.
