Magistrate orders boy’s release

Judicial Magistrate (JM) Abdul Hafiz Methlo raided the PIB police station on Friday and recovered a boy who was illegally detained.
Nasreen Begum filed a habeas corpus petition under section 491 of Cr PC in the court of District and Sessions Judge (East) Sadiq Hussain Bhatti that her son Sabir was kept in illegal detention in the police station. She also stated that she was being threatened and harassed by the police who wanted bribe for his release.
District and Sessions Judge (East) directed the Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Sanaullah Ghori to appoint a judicial magistrate to look into the matter, who assigned JM Mathelo to conduct an inquiry. The JM on Friday along with his court team raided the police station and found Sabir detained in a lock up. He also found that no entry was made in the daily Roznamcha nor any FIR was registered against him.
