Anti Terrorism Court sentenced three kidnappers to life imprisonment having found them guilty in kidnapping for ransom case.
Saeed Chandio, Niaz Chandio and Waheed Kalhoro were prosecuted for kidnapping Junaid Nagori for ransom from Sukkhan area. According to the prosecution, defendants kidnapped the Junaid on August 19, 2008 and demanded Rs. 10 million for his release. Later, they released the abducted after receiving Rs.2.7 million as ransom on October 21, 2008. Special Public Prosecutor Mohammad Khan Buriro produced seven witnesses to prove the guilt of the accused.
The ATC, headed by Judge Syed Hasan Shah Bukhari, observed that prosecution proved its case against the defendants beyond any reasonable doubt and awarded life imprisonment to the defendants. The court ordered attachment of defendants properties worth Rs.2,00,000 each.
The court also recommended disciplinary action against the investigation officers for not arresting the absconding co-accused Mirza Baloch, Abdul Sattar Chandio, Ali Raza, Sikandar Shah, Fida Brohi and favouring co-accused Ali Raza for not collecting evidence against him.
