National

September 27, 2010

LAHORE
THE Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore has condemned the decision of the American court against Dr Aafia Siddiqui and also flayed the abduction of Dr Ali Abdullah, house surgeon of Jinnah Hospital, who had been kidnapped three months ago while going home from the hospital.
PMA office-bearers, including Dr Yasmin Raashid, Dr Sarwar Chaudhry, Dr Tanveer Anwar, Dr Kamran Saeed, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Shahid Malik, Dr Izhar Chaudhry and Dr Mumtaz Ahmed, while speaking at a press conference at the PMA House on Sunday, said that not even a single intelligence agency or police had been able to provide any proof/record about Dr Ali Abdullah in the court of law.
They added that the Punjab and federal government had also failed to take any appropriate step for his recovery. The PMA has given a 48-hour ultimatum to the government to recover Dr Ali Abdullah otherwise the doctor community would observe a black day on Tuesday, and banners of black colour would be displayed at all hospitals of Lahore.
The Association has further announced that doctors would continue working on Tuesday by wearing black armbands in the hospitals, and a protest would be held at the Lahore Press Club at 3pm in which doctors from all hospitals would participate.
The PMA office-bearers have further said that the intensity of protest on these two important issues would be increased stepwise and in coming days, the protest would be held at Punjab level and the regular executive committee meeting of PMA Punjab chapter would be convened for finalising its strategy.
