Three bodies found

THREE bodies were found from different parts of the City on Wednesday. Chung police found the body of a 45-year-old man. Police said locals spotted the body lying along Karmani Road at Bilal Colony. Police claimed that the deceased was an addict who died of drugs overuse. Meanwhile, Lower Mall police found the body of an unidentified elderly man lying at Gora Graveyard. Factory Area police found the body of a 30-year-old unidentified man lying along Walton Road. The police claimed that the man was an addict who apparently died of drugs overuse.
Cloth trader shot dead

LAHORE
A 40-year-old cloth trader was shot dead by two unidentified motorcyclists in the jurisdiction of Naulakha police on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Gull Shair Khan, a resident of Bajor Agency. Police said the victim had been doing cloth business at Landa Bazaar for the past few years.On the day of the incident, the victim was coming out of a mosque when two unidentified bike riders shot and injured him and escaped. Locals shifted the victim to hospital where he died. Police shifted the body to city morgue for autopsy while no case was till the filling of this report.
Train kills man

A 60-year-old unidentified man was killed by a speeding train in the Shahdara area on Wednesday. Police said that the victim was crossing railway lines when a speeding train hit him and he died instantly. Police shifted the body to morgue.

BA/BSc exam

Punjab University (PU) Examinations Department has announced the written and practical examination date-sheets of BA/BSc Supplementary Examination 2010. According to a press statement, the written exam will commence from October 14 and conclude on October 20, 2010 while the practical exam in science subjects will commence from October 25 and conclude on November 4, 2010.

PTCL workers call off strike

THE plight of PTCL customers finally ended when the PTCL workers and line staff resumed their work. Now, the PTCL work force has a tough task to restore and rectify a massive backlog of complaints and disconnections, which are estimated to be over 500,000. Senior Executive Vice President PTCL (Business) Tariq Salman said that all PTCL workers ended their strike and resumed their duties.

THE district and sessions court on Wednesday handed over a girl to her mother after getting her recovered from the illegal custody of her father. Rani Bibi, a resident of Mustafa Abad, had filed a habeas corpus petition in the court, alleging that her husband Mushtaq had been keeping her five years old daughter Ayesha. She said a few days back her husband tortured her, kicked her out of his house and kept her daughter forcibly with him. On her plea, the court directed the Mustafa Abad SHO to produce the child before the court. The SHO recovered the minor from the house of Mushtaq and produced her before the court. Later, the girl’s custody was handed over to her mother Rani Bibi.

PMA election

THE election of Pakistan Medical Association, Lahore, for the year of 2011-12 will be held in December, 2010. According to a handout on Wednesday, Dr. Tanveer Anwar, Secretary General PMA, Lahore, in a press statement, said that only those doctors would be eligible to vote, who would get their membership or renewal of membership before 30th September, 2010.
