Kopy Kat Productions’ latest play ‘Flight 420’ is all set to take off from the stage of National Art Galley tomorrow (Tuesday).

An adaptation of the most successful classic comic farce from French playwright Marc Camoletti that rocked the 60s with laughter, Kopy Kat aims to rock the Islooites with hilarious slam-bang affair that would crack them up with its excess baggage of laughter and comic contents.

Adapted and directed by our local famed play man Shafqat Khan, with producer Dawar Mahmood and Mosin Ejaz holding up the load of assistant director of the play, the Kopy Kat team is poised to make a difference and remove the creases of stress and tensions taking over our waking hours due to the recent acts of terrorism hitting the twin metropolis.

The play rotates around a randy fashion photographer, Jigs, and his wanton juggling affairs among three airhostesses. How Jigs resolves this triple dating dilemma forms the central axis on which ‘Flight 420’ turns.

Sharing their views and experience about the play with the media, the Kopy Kat team held a briefing here Saturday. Yasra Rizvi, who holds the production management services of the Kopy Kat team, said they have improvised the play according to the local taste and flavour with sheer hard work.

Producer Dawar Mahmood said the Kopy Kat team has given five popular plays to the capital audience since its inception, adding that ‘Come Again’ remains their most popular play, which was staged three times with additions and changes. Dawar said that Kopy Kats takes pride in claiming that it was one of the first original Urdu stage plays to be staged in Pakistan. ‘The Accidental Death of an Anarchist’ by Kopy Kats Production also left a mark on the capital stage scene. Dawar also said that the team wants to unite the theatre groups working in Islamabad and work together for the revival of original Urdu stage plays here.

“We have always worked with clear and transparent themes sans vulgarity to suit the moods and modes of our cultural norms,” said Mohsin Ejaz, the assistant director of the play. He said ‘Flight 420’ is going to be a clean comedy, putting life and laughter on stage to tickle the funny bones of the Islamabad audience. ‘Flight 420’ is going to be staged at the National Art Gallery from October 27 till November 2.
