LAHORE

A Lahore High Court full bench on Monday reserved judgement on a Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s petition that wanted a yet to be released report of Model Town incident’s judicial inquiry be made part of its private complaint pending before an anti-terrorism court.

Through its complaint, the PAT sought trial of prime minister, Punjab chief minister and others on charges of killing its workers in the 2014 incident.

The PAT’s counsel Rai Bashir Ahmad concluded his arguments before the full bench headed by Justice Muhammad Yawar Ali. The lawyer argued that the Punjab government with mala fide intention restricted publication of the report of the inquiry held by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi. He said the report, if became part of the ATC proceedings on private complaint, would strengthen the statements of the witnesses testified in the private complaint of the PAT. He asked the bench to dismiss an order of the trial court and order it to make the inquiry report a necessary part of the proceedings on the complaint.   Minhajul Quran’s Director Administration Jawwad Hamid had filed the petition against dismissal of their application by the ATC.
