Pressure can be built on rulers thru joint opposition: Kaira

LALAMUSA: Pakistan People’s Party leader Chaudhry Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan has strengthened the hands of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz by announcing the Islamabad Dharna.

Talking to newsmen after attending a tent pegging competition at Verowal village on Friday, he said that protest rallies and demonstrations were the right of the political parties. He, however, said that the constitution did not allow closure of any city. The PPP leader said that the pressure could be built on the rulers through a joint opposition. He said that the present government was dealing democracy like kings but now the kings must be held answerable.

Regarding issuance of notices to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his companions, Kaira said that the notices were also issued to our prime ministers during the PPP tenure. He said that their prime ministers not only received the notices, but also appeared in the court.

To a question regarding his nominated as the PPP Punjab president, Kaira said that his name was among those which were being discussed by the PPP leadership for the slot.

Earlier, Qamar Zaman Kaira attended the competition as a special guest. As many as 300 horse riders from the Punjab participated in the competition.
