Speakers pay tributes to Khowar language poet

PESHAWAR: A condolence reference was held in the memory of noted poet, writer and researcher of the Khowar language, Gul Nawaz Khaki, at the Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday.
Anjuman-e-Taraqi Khowar language arranged the condolence reference. It was attended by Member Provincial Assemblies, Fauzia Bibi and Saleem Khan, Prof Israruddin, journalist Sharif Shakeeb and others.
The speakers paid rich tributes to the late poet for his services rendered for the promotion of the fourth largely spoken language of the province. They said the departed poet had highlighted the local culture and traditions of the Khowar language.
They said the writer and poet had various books to his credit. They said the work of the late poet served as a milestone in the promotion of the Khowar. They said the poet had written various plays to highlight the unique customs, traditions and heritage of the Chitralis. They asked the government to announce national awards for literati working for the protection and promotion of native languages.
