Dear Ed,

I read the article “The rainbow vibes” in the issue of 9 September and it was a fun read. But some trends were left out, like the barbiecore trend or the hot pink fashion, logo bags and clothes, and academia style. And mostly, the fashion trends mentioned in the article were from western culture. What about Chikankari kurtis, solids, co-ord sets and block prints? Please include desi trends as well. I would also recommend to include fashion influencers’ comments in the articles. And I am so happy The Green Room is back!

Salam Eddy,

I read Us magazine regularly. I enjoy reading celebrity interviews because it is always fascinating to know about young celebrities. There is one thing I have noticed in the interviews: celebrities’ answers look very superficial! It seems they don’t have any useful ideas to share with the readers. They all advise to work hard and never stop learning. There could be other pieces of advice as well since they have a lot of experience in the entertainment industry.

I think the interviewer should ask a variety of questions and remove questions that are repeatedly asked. I have few questions in mind: would you recommend a TV show or movie to our readers? If you could spend one whole day with a famous person, who would you spend the day with? What celebrities do you follow on social media? With questions like these, I think the celebrities will be compelled to give interesting answers.

Anyway, I am happy that the celebrity interviews have become a regular part of the magazine.

Hi Ed,

I loved the poem “Dear Society” by Sunaina Majeed. She beautifully shifted her focus from her appearance to the beauty of her heart and character. It is a lesson for us all that in order to flourish, we should not let negative thoughts control us.

Hi Ed,

I feel terrible for the victims of the recent floods that have devastated our country. I think young people should do all they can to help the people displaced by floods. I am doing some relief work with my cousins. We collect clothes and medicines, and give them to charities we trust. It’s a small effort but if more and more young guys take up the cause it will help these poor people who have lost so much.

Reflection

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Mu’alla:

While I was praying, the Prophet (SAW) called me but I did not respond to his call. Later I said, “O Allah’s Apostle! I was praying.” He said, “Didn’t Allah say: ‘O you who believe! Give your response to Allah (by obeying Him) and to His Apostle when he calls you’?” (8.24) He then said, “Shall I not teach you the most superior Surah in the Qur’an?” He said, ‘(It is), ‘Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. ‘(i.e., Surat Al-Fatiha) which consists of seven repeatedly recited Verses and the Magnificent Qur’an which was given to me.”
